Yesterday morning I woke up to the sun shining and a temperature I could walk outside in without a coat. Obviously, this put me in a GREAT mood. Around this time of year I start getting pretty antsy for nice weather and just sunshine in general. I grabbed my camera and my coffee and went for a long walk around my neighborhood and down to the lake. Maybe I have been watching too much Fixer Upper (can you watch too much Fixer Upper? #loveChipandJoJo), but I found myself on the lookout for cool houses and special details. I'm always surprised by the amount of brightly painted houses around my neighborhood, which really does make for a more cheerful look especially during these grey winter months. There is now snow covering the ground again here in Burlington (boo), so this post will serve as a reminder for me that spring is on its way. Whoo!
Coach 1941 Fall '16 Collection
I finally got a chance to catch up on all the New York Fashion Week shows today, and am so happy I did. I always love seeing what amazing collections come out of all the craziness during the shows each fall and spring. The clothing and the energy of the events give me inspiration for my vintage hunt in a different way than anything else does. I was in New York this fall to soak in some inspiration, and I wish I could have made a trip down for this one too. The collection that has been my favorite so far is Coach 1941. The skirts, the plaids, the patchworks blouses; everything! I've shared some of my favorites, but you can check the full show out, and the rest of the designers' collections, HERE.

A Snowy Rainy Tuesday
Today I:
Took photos of new vintage
Listened to the new Being Boss episode
Went to the grocery store, was very strong, and bought no junk food and lots of veggies
Did a load of laundry
Listed new items with Gilmore Girls on in the background
Admired the good job I did decluttering the basement yesterday and the carload of items going to the thrift store
Texted a little with a friend
Enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate while watching the snow/rain come down outside
Got overly excited when I realized it was Tuesday and there is a new episode of both New Girl and Fixer Upper on tonight. Score!
Went to ship a few orders and realized my printer was out of ink. Unscore.
How about you guys? Hope your day / holiday weekend was great!
I Work From Home, And Get Dressed Sometimes
Hah! So I decided to start a series on here dedicated to the mucho-casual, borderline-pajamas outfits that have become part of my daily routine since starting to work from home. I'd like to say I get dressed up every day, with super cute outfits, full makeup and straightened hair, but to be honest, most of the time I just don't. I have intentions to change this in the future, but for now I'm thinking this series will motivate me to keep it at least casual-cute, you know? If anyone else works from home and has any suggestions for me, please comment below with your tricks!
In other news, there is a 30% Winter Clear-out Sale going on in the shop right now, and I just listed a bunch of great new items that are included in the discount! Check it out here, or use discount code WINTERCLEAROUT here.

The Arctic Tundra
Yesterday Owen and I headed down to the lake at sunset dressed in every piece of warm clothing possible, since it was the windiest, coldest day ever, but also really beautiful out. And for this reason you won't see my face in any of the photos because I was NOT about to take off my gator for a photo. Yes, the struggle was real. On a side not how cute is my gator? My sister made us all one for Christmas because she's superwoman and finds time to sew after spending long days being a chiropractor. Impressed.
Anyways, we had just had a long day of driving in the car, stuck behind snowplows, so it was nice to get outside in the fresh air. We had a couple very ungraceful slips on the ice, and then an icy wave splashed water onto our camera lens, but other than that it was all good. Haha.
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, and I am happy to say after a bit of a hiatus I am back at this whole blogging thing, and happy to be doing so! Thanks for checking in with me : )

Around Here Lately
Scenes from around here this week. Lots of raking, organizing and shooting new vintage, burning Christmas scented candles, a couple gorgeous sunsets, puppy sitting and enjoying settling into a new schedule where our work days end at 5 (for the most part) and we feel like real adults. Oh yah and I got bangs (!!). We are still having fun messing around with our new photo setup so the photo above is a fake-guitar-playing-me with new said bangs and pretending to be cool. Happy Monday everyone!

An Icy Lake Champlain Sunset

Me, slightly freaking out, getting a call our heat isn't working while freezing my tookus off. It came back on, a Christmas miracle!

Slightly underexposed, but still cool.
Owen and I watched the sunset down by the freezing cold lake last night. Lake Champlain really does get the most beautiful sunsets over the Adirondacks, with lots of oranges and reds. Owen did a great job of capturing the colors in the ice as the sun was going down. Cold experience, but worth it : )

This and That: Barns, Babies and Chili's Margaritas
This weekend Owen and I went to visit our good friends Allie and Travis from when we lived in Lake Tahoe, CA. They live in New Hampshire now, and were in Vermont this weekend staying at their family's condo in Stowe (about 45 minutes from us). Allie had just given birth to the cutest of babies a little over two weeks ago, so we couldn't wait to meet little Hartley Madrid. The boys went skiing all day Saturday in the fresh snow (and saw a moose!), while Allie, their aunt Carolee and I hung out at the condo with Hartley.
You forget just how TINY newborn babies are until you are presented with one to hold. I may have slightly panicked for a second (they are just so wobbly!) but once I got used to holding her I didn't want to give her back. That newborn baby smell is just the best isn't it? Ask Owen - I made him smell her head about five times until he stood his man ground and wouldn't do it anymore.
Holy Moly is she a lot of work though. Around the clock constant feeding, burping, sleeping, diaper changing then feeding again. Allie is a natural though and is such a great mom already!
The barn above was from our snowy drive home on Sunday. Stowe is full of red barns and houses that are built to look like red barns, its such a cozy ski town. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

I had to capture the light in my dining room - every morning after it snows and the sun starts shining, the light is so great in there! Such a cozy place for breakfast.
Coffee Date
This morning Owen and I braved the cold weather and decided to go for a walk downtown since it was so nice and sunny outside. For those of you who haven't been to Burlington, our downtown go-to is called Church Street Marketplace, which is a blocked off brick street lined with fancy restaurants, cute boutiques and cozy cafes. During the summertime its completely filled with people walking around, street performers playing guitar or violin, and on the weekends lots of different festivals. One of our favorite things to do is to grab a cup of coffee at a table outside and people watch. Let me tell you, you see some good stuff. And some weird stuff (I'm looking at you old hippie man with no shirt). But mostly good stuff. Lots of cute babies and dogs too : )
During the wintertime its still pretty fun to walk around, you just have to brave the brain numbing cold wind. There's white twinkle lights in all the trees and people bundled up going from store to store. Today we decided to do a winter version of our summer activity, and sat upstairs in a bagel shop drinking coffee, eating egg sandwiches and people watching from the window. OK, after writing all this I now realize we sound like creepers. We aren't the only ones who do this, are we? Maybe we need to get out more...
Anyways, it's been great having Owen home more lately, as he spent the last five months student teaching in a middle school as well as working at a restaurant four nights a week. Between both our jobs some days we barely saw each other, and I missed him! I'm glad to have some husband hang time back (and also to have one who's not nodding off every time we talk because he's so tired!)
Lots of shipping to do tonight and listing some new items, so check in with me at the shop!

Oldies but Goodies
My mother-in-law recently sent us some photos she took over Thanksgiving, and although I already wrote about our time in Plymouth here, I had to post a couple more because she's just so darn good! I love how she can capture moments when people are relaxed and not so posed. We are having a sunny day in Vermont (freezing cold, but sunny) so I'm happy to be sitting in my window filled office with a busy day ahead of me : ) Hope everyone has a great day!
