A Well Spent Saturday

Today I -

Thrifted for two hours with my sister.

Took a long, cozy afternoon nap.

Read a magazine on the couch.

Took a few new shop photos. 

Listed new spring vintage.

Drove to town with Owen to get coffee and a juice (^ I got the carrot, apple, ginger, beet).

Walked by the lake for five minutes until the freezing cold temps forced us back into our cozy home.

Listened to Oh Wonder "Without You" on repeat.

Went for a wine and cereal run to the grocery store.

Searched for a new home since we are moving out of our house soon (crossing our fingers an appointment tomorrow goes well).

Wished that it was spring already, goshdarnit.

A Sunset Picnic

Last night Owen and I packed up some dinner, picked up a bottle of wine and biked down to Oak Ledge, a park near our house with great views of Lake Champlain. It was such a beautiful, clear night, a little chilly but warm in the sun. We laid out a blanket and just hung out with our sandwiches and wine watching the bikers and runners go by. You can catch some interesting parts of people's conversations when they walk by you and think you can't hear, hah. We also had quite a show when a woman decided to take a break from biking and put on a full dance routine by herself on the rock stage down the lawn from us. Pretty good moves, too. Oh, Burlington, we love you.

Coffee Date

As previously written about here, Owen and I are big fans of daytime coffee dates. Today's date agenda included some very exciting activities, including the following - 

1. Walking around exclaiming for the 100th time that day how happy we are that its warm and sunny and green.

2. Playing around with the new camera, stopping once in awhile for a passing car or if we think someone is looking at us and we feel awkward.

3. Using our free giftcard to Starbucks we got from my dentist for an amazing coconut milk iced vanilla chai tea latte. Big plus here, they spelled my name right - score one for the Kristins with an "i"!

4. Checking out all the new blooming plant life finally coming into action in Burlington. And that are slightly attacking me via my seasonal allergies. But so beautiful anyways so its all good. 

Yep, we're old weirdos. But I love it! Sometimes its the little things am-I-right?

An Icy Lake Champlain Sunset

Me, slightly freaking out, getting a call our heat isn't working while freezing my tookus off. It came back on, a Christmas miracle!

Owen and I watched the sunset down by the freezing cold lake last night. Lake Champlain really does get the most beautiful sunsets over the Adirondacks, with lots of oranges and reds. Owen did a great job of capturing the colors in the ice as the sun was going down. Cold experience, but worth it : )

Coffee Date

This morning Owen and I braved the cold weather and decided to go for a walk downtown since it was so nice and sunny outside. For those of you who haven't been to Burlington, our downtown go-to is called Church Street Marketplace, which is a blocked off brick street lined with fancy restaurants, cute boutiques and cozy cafes. During the summertime its completely filled with people walking around, street performers playing guitar or violin, and on the weekends lots of different festivals. One of our favorite things to do is to grab a cup of coffee at a table outside and people watch. Let me tell you, you see some good stuff. And some weird stuff (I'm looking at you old hippie man with no shirt). But mostly good stuff. Lots of cute babies and dogs too : )

During the wintertime its still pretty fun to walk around, you just have to brave the brain numbing cold wind. There's white twinkle lights in all the trees and people bundled up going from store to store. Today we decided to do a winter version of our summer activity, and sat upstairs in a bagel shop drinking coffee, eating egg sandwiches and people watching from the window. OK, after writing all this I now realize we sound like creepers. We aren't the only ones who do this, are we? Maybe we need to get out more...

Anyways, it's been great having Owen home more lately, as he spent the last five months student teaching in a middle school as well as working at a restaurant four nights a week. Between both our jobs some days we barely saw each other, and I missed him! I'm glad to have some husband hang time back (and also to have one who's not nodding off every time we talk because he's so tired!)
