A Well Spent Saturday

Today I -

Thrifted for two hours with my sister.
Took a long, cozy afternoon nap.
Read a magazine on the couch.
Took a few new shop photos.
Drove to town with Owen to get coffee and a juice (^ I got the carrot, apple, ginger, beet).
Walked by the lake for five minutes until the freezing cold temps forced us back into our cozy home.
Listened to Oh Wonder "Without You" on repeat.
Went for a wine and cereal run to the grocery store.
Searched for a new home since we are moving out of our house soon (crossing our fingers an appointment tomorrow goes well).
Wished that it was spring already, goshdarnit.

How about you? Happy weekend everyone : )

The Arctic Tundra

Yesterday Owen and I headed down to the lake at sunset dressed in every piece of warm clothing possible, since it was the windiest, coldest day ever, but also really beautiful out. And for this reason you won't see my face in any of the photos because I was NOT about to take off my gator for a photo. Yes, the struggle was real. On a side not how cute is my gator? My sister made us all one for Christmas because she's superwoman and finds time to sew after spending long days being a chiropractor. Impressed.

Anyways, we had just had a long day of driving in the car, stuck behind snowplows, so it was nice to get outside in the fresh air. We had a couple very ungraceful slips on the ice, and then an icy wave splashed water onto our camera lens, but other than that it was all good. Haha.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, and I am happy to say after a bit of a hiatus I am back at this whole blogging thing, and happy to be doing so! Thanks for checking in with me : )

Date Night : Dinner at the Lake

Some sunset photos from a night off together Owen and I had last week. We threw together some dinner, packed it with some Miller Lites in our cooler and sat down by the water watching the sun go down. Hanging by the water + food + our camera + a little booze = a typical summer night for the Perks couple. We are just so exciting. Hah. Happy first day of fall!

Weekend Recap : Labor Day Weekend

A few photos from Labor Day weekend, which was spent split between hanging out at my parents boat, going to the Champlain Valley Fair, setting up my new photo studio kit (yay!) and waitressing. Hope yours was just as fun : )

Weekend Recap : Girls' Day

A little late weekend recap from this Saturday. My sister Kelly and I had a "girls' day", and it was so wonderful. She is getting married next summer, so we did some wedding dress shopping in the morning at a local shop. She looked amazing in so many of the dresses that it was seriously hard to pick. There was one contender, however, that was stunning and looks like it might be "the one". It made me want to get married again just so I could pick another dress! (Justttt kidding, that was enough work the first time hah) Afterwards we walked around the Burlington Farmer's Market and got brunch at Magnolias, a favorite restaurant of mine. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes and she got the lime Belgian waffles, and we both got grapefruit juice mimosas. SO. GOOD. It was great to have a nice morning off together as we've both been so busy with work that we haven't been able to see each other very much lately. Happy hump day everyone, and plan a girls' day for yourself soon, its good for the soul!

P.S. She vetoed the dress below, otherwise I wouldn't ruin the surprise ; )

This and That : Two Sunsets on the Boat

As I've mentioned before, my parents keep their wooden Chris Craft boat on the lake here during the summer. Since they still live in my hometown in New York this gives us a lot more family time together, which is so great. We head over there often for a boat ride around the bay, a swim to cool off, to barbecue dinner together or for happy hour and card games.
You can catch some really stunning sunsets over Lake Champlain, which I get to see from the restaurant a lot but are best enjoyed on the dock with family and a beer in hand. I'm sharing two great ones here - one from last week and one from Tuesday night. Don't you just love summer?

This and That : Summer Schedule

Since Owen and I are both working mostly nights right now (and I like to work on the shop in the evening most of the time), we can usually get outside during the afternoon to enjoy some of the Vermont summer. This afternoon we hit up Oak Ledge park once again, our favorite spot right near our house, to catch some rays, jump very quickly in the cold water and eat our lunch. The air was warm and breezy, and there were a ton of those little cotton ball looking things floating around (that's what is in the first picture, crazy right?) Its so nice to break up the day that way, especially after spending a lot of time cooped up inside my office the past couple days. Sometimes I wonder what everyone else's daily schedule looks like, and if it changes much during the summer like ours does. Hope you can soak in some sunshine today too, and share your summer routine with me if you want! : )

Around Here Lately

Around here lately we have been:
Boat riding
Dock hanging
Bike riding
Barbecue having
Ladderball playing
Vintage hunting
Office organizing
Game of Thrones watching
Inspiration board making

How about you? Hope your weekend was great : )

Farmers' Market Tips

During the summer, Owen and I hit up the Burlington farmers' market every Saturday morning. If its nice out we'll bike there, but this weekend the weather was a little back and forth so we just parked and walked around. It is by far the largest farmers' market I have been to, and the organizers do such a great job of choosing vendors with unique products, with a variety of vendors as well so there's not a ton of the same thing. I swear it gets better every year, and this year I've noticed a lot more food options which is great, as we usually time it so we can grab breakfast / early lunch there.
As an avid farmers' marketer ( market-goer?), I figured I'd share some tips from what I've learned over the years, just for fun. Hopefully it inspires you to get out there whenever your town's market is and have fun with it!

Weekend Recap : Restaurants, Ladderball & Family

This weekend was another busy one, but full of awesomeness. My younger brother was in town training for his summer job, and in between shifts at the restaurant we had a lot of fun barbecuing, playing board games and hanging at the beach playing ladderball. Since my sister and her fiance are chiropractors, and just opened their office this week, we all also took a trip over there to check out the space and get adjusted. This girl is feeling much better after a sore shoulder that's been bothering me all week got worked on. If you're in the Burlington area and looking for a great chiropractor, be sure to check out Summit Chiropractic Center.
On Saturday morning we had our first trip of the year to the Burlington farmer's market, a summer tradition of ours (I have a little Farmer's Market post comin' atcha later this week) Since it was UVM graduation this weekend, that place was hopping and I swear the food gets better every year. So fun!
Hope your weekend was great and you are feeling refreshed and ready to go on this beautiful Monday : )
