OldSchoolSwank Fall/Winter 2015 Lookbook

I am so excited to share some images from the OldSchoolSwank Fall/Winter 2015 lookbook! This is a project I have wanted to do for so long, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My super talented photographer friend Julia Backus photographed another friend Abby in a few looks that I feel represent OldSchoolSwank's overall style for this Fall/Winter season. I love how the photos encompass a little retro, a little bohemian, and a little mod style, which are my favorite vintage items to source.

If you'd like to check out the full lookbook, or the newly updated shop website, head to www.oldschoolswank.com.

Fall Hike Roundup

We have been doing quite a few fall hikes lately. The temperatures have been so perfect to head out and enjoy this time of year, I love it! I got inspired to do a little fall hiking roundup of some items I've been obsessing about this month that would be great to head out into the woods with. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

1. Asildastore Life of Adventure Patch
2. New Balance Capsule Wood Trainer
3. Lululemon Skinny Groove Pant II
4. Darn Tough Hiking Socks
5. The North Face Mini Berkeley Backpack
7. Patagonia Bivy Hooded Vest

Leaves!

And for your fall viewing pleasure - lots of leaves! Owen and I got WAY too into finding cool leaves on a hike we took this week, and I think they came out way cool. We are headed to New York tonight to attend a friends wedding tomorrow, so this weekend should be fun-filled. Hope all yours are as well : )

Also, if you haven't watched the Whine About It : Fall Episode please do so right now. It cracks me up.

Weekend Recap : All Things Fall

A few photos from my weekend. I worked Friday and Sunday, but fit in a lot of fall activities in between. I visited Shelburne Farms twice with both my sister and Owen, went apple picking, attempted making a "fire cider tonic" with apple cider vinegar and failed (next time less garlic!), sampled a flight of beers at a brewery with some good girl talk and went thrifting (obviously). Hope your weekends were great : )

Phew, it has been a bit since I've posted huh? Does anyone else feel like fall keeps them extra super busy? Back at it though folks so don't give up on me yet. Since the entire shop is 25% off right now for our Fall Sale (!!), I figured I would gather a little fall inspiration from two of my favorite bloggers, Sydney and Mary, and do a vintage inspiration post with some of my favorite items. Hope your week is going great!

Mt. Philo State Park & Daily Affirmations

This afternoon Owen and I drove to Mt. Philo State Park in Charlotte, VT to get outside for awhile after a long weekend of working indoors. We didn't get there in time to do any major hiking, but instead drove to the top and walked around, checking out the breathtaking views of Vermont and the Adirondacks in New York that the outlook provided. It was so relaxing to sit and look out at all that green and blue, and immediately took me from a slightly stressed state of mind to a calm, centered one.

I have been reading the morning affirmations I wrote about months ago every morning, which I printed out and taped to my computer screen. Saying them out loud every day first thing reminds me to stay calm, remember I am on the right path, and be grateful for what I have. Looking out from Mt. Philo did the same thing this afternoon, so I decided to share them again in case they may do the same thing for you! Hope it starts your week off right : )

New York Fashion Week Favorites : Days 2 & 3

New York Fashion Week Favorites : Day 1

ERIN FETHERSTON
I get way too excited for New York Fashion Week, especially in the fall. I think it comes from my first semester at F.I.T., where it felt like as soon as we got to school, Fashion Week started and we were immediately immersed in it. I volunteered at an amazing designer's show dressing models for the runway, and the experience was just so fun and exciting (and he took us out for dinner and drinks the next week as a thank you which didn't hurt). I try to get to the city every year at this time to gather inspiration from the excitement in the air, and will be heading there this week again.

I love seeing all the fashion both on and off the runway happening every September, so I will be sharing some of my favorites from the shows throughout the week. I've been catching some of the shows live on nyfw.com, which runs a live feed of the shows happening that day. Here is a roundup of my favorites from day 1 of NYFW 2015 (all photos courtesy of vogue.com)

Roundup : Fall Road Trip OldSchoolSwank Style

Can you believe its September 1st? Crazy, but I love it : ) I have been driving around Vermont a lot this past week visiting friends and family, and its inspiring me to keep exploring more of the Vermont towns I've been wanting to check out since we moved here. I love walking around a town and checking out the local shops, cafes and hikes. And fall is such a perfect time to do that with the crisp sunny weather and the beautiful foliage. I've rounded up a few vintage items currently in the shop that would be perfect for a fall weekend road trip!

(photo above was taken at the Vermont Welcome Center last week)

Wore : Vintage Denim Bows Top

Yesterday I wore my new favorite vintage top I got from The Getup Vintage in Montpelier (if you remember from this post). I am getting excited for fall guys. Falling leaves, boots, soccer, carving pumpkins, sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, plaid shirts, cute hats, hikes, apple picking, crisp mornings, the new fall T.V. lineup, football, new beginnings. Isn't it the best? What's your favorite part of the autumn season?

Roundup : My Favorite Vintage For Fall

Can you believe we are nearing the end of August? This summer has flown by. I have to admit that even though I love the rest of summer, August and September are my favorite months. They have such a relaxed vibe to them and the anticipation of new things is in the air. I maybe can do without this insane heat wave, as I am sitting here sweating to death even though a box fan set on high is a foot away from my face.

One of my favorite things about August is anticipating what my fall wardrobe will be. I am not in school anymore, nor do I have a traditional job I go to every day where I need to get dressed, but I still love imagining the new pieces I will add each year. Especially when I buy the "September Issue" of Vogue (right?!).

I put together a little roundup of some of my favorite vintage items I want to get for fall, from a few of the raddest vintage shops on Etsy. Enjoy!

Ugly-but-Awesome Christmas Sweater

I picked up this JCrew holiday sweater at the thrift shop last month, and I love it. It's got the right amount of Christmas corniness but in a mellow, wearable way. So here are a few pictures of me freezing my booty off on the porch, why is Vermont so COLD?!

Looking for options for your upcoming ugly Christmas sweater party? Check out this, this and this ; )

This and That : A Busy Tuesday

Early morning sun coming in through the front door always puts me in such a great mood.

A messy, but productive, office space.

My favorite little houseplant that just keeps growing and growing (and a yard that needs to be raked).

My bouquet from my best friend's wedding a couple weeks ago, still looking beautiful.

Retro art gets me every time. Borderline ugly? Makes it even better!

Chia seed pudding. That's right, Pinterest, I DID make one of the recipes I pinned. Hah. And it was awesome. And awesomely easy. You just mix the seeds with coconut milk (I used a coconut/ almond blend) and a little vanilla and let it sit overnight. The next morning, its like tapioca pudding for breakfast. Just add a little fruit : )

Oversized sweater

sweater : thrifted scarf: sewn by me jeans: thrifted Lucky Brand shoes : Kenneth Cole Reaction

Oversized knits? Yes please! Especially when I ate a Chipotle burrito bowl for lunch ; )

P.S. 20% off sale still going on over at OldSchoolSwank vintage!
