The Arctic Tundra

Yesterday Owen and I headed down to the lake at sunset dressed in every piece of warm clothing possible, since it was the windiest, coldest day ever, but also really beautiful out. And for this reason you won't see my face in any of the photos because I was NOT about to take off my gator for a photo. Yes, the struggle was real. On a side not how cute is my gator? My sister made us all one for Christmas because she's superwoman and finds time to sew after spending long days being a chiropractor. Impressed.

Anyways, we had just had a long day of driving in the car, stuck behind snowplows, so it was nice to get outside in the fresh air. We had a couple very ungraceful slips on the ice, and then an icy wave splashed water onto our camera lens, but other than that it was all good. Haha.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, and I am happy to say after a bit of a hiatus I am back at this whole blogging thing, and happy to be doing so! Thanks for checking in with me : )

Fall Hike Roundup

We have been doing quite a few fall hikes lately. The temperatures have been so perfect to head out and enjoy this time of year, I love it! I got inspired to do a little fall hiking roundup of some items I've been obsessing about this month that would be great to head out into the woods with. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

1. Asildastore Life of Adventure Patch
2. New Balance Capsule Wood Trainer
3. Lululemon Skinny Groove Pant II
4. Darn Tough Hiking Socks
5. The North Face Mini Berkeley Backpack
7. Patagonia Bivy Hooded Vest

Leaves!

And for your fall viewing pleasure - lots of leaves! Owen and I got WAY too into finding cool leaves on a hike we took this week, and I think they came out way cool. We are headed to New York tonight to attend a friends wedding tomorrow, so this weekend should be fun-filled. Hope all yours are as well : )

Also, if you haven't watched the Whine About It : Fall Episode please do so right now. It cracks me up.

Mt. Philo State Park & Daily Affirmations

This afternoon Owen and I drove to Mt. Philo State Park in Charlotte, VT to get outside for awhile after a long weekend of working indoors. We didn't get there in time to do any major hiking, but instead drove to the top and walked around, checking out the breathtaking views of Vermont and the Adirondacks in New York that the outlook provided. It was so relaxing to sit and look out at all that green and blue, and immediately took me from a slightly stressed state of mind to a calm, centered one.

I have been reading the morning affirmations I wrote about months ago every morning, which I printed out and taped to my computer screen. Saying them out loud every day first thing reminds me to stay calm, remember I am on the right path, and be grateful for what I have. Looking out from Mt. Philo did the same thing this afternoon, so I decided to share them again in case they may do the same thing for you! Hope it starts your week off right : )

Weekend Recap : Family Time

Another busy weekend for Owen and I that ran into Monday as well. It was spent with my family on Friday and Saturday in Vermont, playing cards on the boat and hitting the farmers market in the morning. Somehow I did not bring my camera so we will all just have to imagine it, but it was fun : ) We both worked the weekend nights at our restaurants, and then Sunday afternoon drove to Owen's parents house in New York. The drive was beautiful on a clear sunny day, passing through all the small towns and farms and seeing people out and about. In New York we spent lots of time hanging around my in-laws beautiful pond chatting and hitting golf balls, taking a quick hike, catching up with friends over a beer and playing with our niece Hannah. Yes, there is another overload of baby pictures comin' atcha. You know you love them. Overall a very fun and relaxing weekend. Hope your's was fab!
P.S. How about this sweatshirt around the waist look? Totally cool, right? Hah.
