A Morning Neighborhood Walk

Yesterday morning I woke up to the sun shining and a temperature I could walk outside in without a coat. Obviously, this put me in a GREAT mood. Around this time of year I start getting pretty antsy for nice weather and just sunshine in general. I grabbed my camera and my coffee and went for a long walk around my neighborhood and down to the lake. Maybe I have been watching too much Fixer Upper (can you watch too much Fixer Upper? #loveChipandJoJo), but I found myself on the lookout for cool houses and special details. I'm always surprised by the amount of brightly painted houses around my neighborhood, which really does make for a more cheerful look especially during these grey winter months. There is now snow covering the ground again here in Burlington (boo), so this post will serve as a reminder for me that spring is on its way. Whoo!

Mt. Philo State Park & Daily Affirmations

This afternoon Owen and I drove to Mt. Philo State Park in Charlotte, VT to get outside for awhile after a long weekend of working indoors. We didn't get there in time to do any major hiking, but instead drove to the top and walked around, checking out the breathtaking views of Vermont and the Adirondacks in New York that the outlook provided. It was so relaxing to sit and look out at all that green and blue, and immediately took me from a slightly stressed state of mind to a calm, centered one.

I have been reading the morning affirmations I wrote about months ago every morning, which I printed out and taped to my computer screen. Saying them out loud every day first thing reminds me to stay calm, remember I am on the right path, and be grateful for what I have. Looking out from Mt. Philo did the same thing this afternoon, so I decided to share them again in case they may do the same thing for you! Hope it starts your week off right : )

Exploring : Sterling Falls Gorge in Stowe, Vermont

Yesterday Owen and I went for a little hike around Sterling Falls Gorge in Stowe, Vermont. It was our two year wedding anniversary, and it was great to get outside and get some fresh air after a long weekend at the restaurant. The falls were so beautiful and peaceful, and we just hung out next to them while Owen took some long exposure photos again with his new filter. I jumped in once, and it was FREEZING but very refreshing. Afterwards we stuffed ourselves at an awesome dinner downtown. I am recovering today and listing some new vintage this rainy afternoon. Everything in the shop is 20% off right now, so if you've had your eye on something now is the time to grab it! Happy Tuesday everyone.

Exploring : LaPlatte River

Owen and I spent part of this afternoon relaxing at LaPlatte Nature Park in Shelburne, Vermont. He brought along his birthday present he received last week, a new filter for our camera which allows him to take longer exposure shots. He has been experimenting with moving water this week, and the flowing river at the park with its many small waterfalls was a perfect place to test it out. I figured I'd share a few of the photos as I think they turned out pretty awesome. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Exploring : Montpelier, Vermont

Last week I took a day off and drove south with my parents to check out Vermont's capital city of Montpelier. I had been wanting to explore it for a while now, but hadn't gotten around to it, and am so glad that I finally did. We started out at the Visitors Center, which has all sorts of great information, free Green Mountain coffee, Cabot cheese samples and the nicest lady you'll ever meet to give you ideas of what to do. Plus they have a sweet swinging hammock chair you may want to sit in for a while and then steal because it is so comfortable.
